Fujifilm X100T Memory Card Compatibility

SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards are able to be put to use in the Fujifilm X100T. Video and continuous shooting need SD memory cards with high write speeds to the card.

The card you select is a considerable effect on the performance of your camera.

Want to skip the tech jargon? This is my recommendation on the SD card to use in your Fujifilm X100T:

SanDisk Ultra 64GB SD Card

  • UHS-I, U1, and Class 10 Speed Rating. Can sustain 10MB/s write speeds.
  • Excellent choice for photos.
  • Capable of recording Full HD (1920x1080) Video.
  • Inexpensive with more than good enough performance.
  • Larger capacities are available for a reasonable price.

SD cards have come way down in cost since the introduction of the Fujifilm X100T.

Since costs are low, it would not make financial sense to pay for anything but a professional-level card.

The best cards I use have been the SanDisk Extreme Pro, Lexar Professional, and PNY Elite Performance models. I have under no circumstances endured a card break or data errors with those cards.

Every trouble I have dealt with has been due to generic unbranded SD cards. Attempting to save around a dollar isn’t worthwhile if your X100T does not function properly.

If you want to reduce your cost, grab a lower capacity card from a quality manufacturer. Because of this, you will know your images are secure on the memory card.

Only SDXC, SDHC, and SD cards can be used by the Fujifilm X100T. Check to be sure that your camera has the most up to date firmware.

The newest SDUC (Secure Digital Ultra Capacity) memory cards, are not compatible with the X100T.

Four separate versions of Secure Digital (SD) cards that you need to be aware of. You can tell the difference between them depending on their storage capacity.

  • SD (Secure Digital) - 128MB to 2GB.
  • SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) - 4GB to 32GB.
  • SDXC (Secure Digital eXtended Capacity) - 64GB to 2TB.
  • SDUC (Secure Digital Ultra Capacity) - 4TB to 128TB.

Below is a fast approximation of the volume of large JPEGs photographs you can expect to save on a card:

  • 16GB - 4,640 images
  • 32GB - 9,280 images
  • 64GB - 18,560 images
  • 128GB - 37,120 images

The speed rating of an SD memory card is determined by the continuous read and write transfer speeds. SD card continuous write speed is important for clearing the camera buffer for continuous shooting as well as recording video.

A slow SD card can reduce the number of continuous photos the Fujifilm X100T can capture. This is because the buffer in the camera is not able to write data to the memory card quickly enough.

When shooting video, a slow card can cause an unexpected end to shooting. The video file could also be corrupted. If you are going to shoot video, it is important the card you use meets the required write speed for video.

Read speed is nice to have for file transfers to a computer or laptop. If you are filling up cards with images or video, a SD card with a fast read speed will decrease the transfer time.

SD Card Speed Class
SD Card Speed Class

The continuous write speed of a memory card is the criteria for the Class rating. Memory cards that have a write speed of at least 10MB/s will be rated Class 10.

  • Class 2 - 2MB/s
  • Class 4 - 4MB/s
  • Class 6 - 6MB/s
  • Class 8 - 8MB/s
  • Class 10 - 10MB/s or faster

Every name-brand SD card that you can buy will be Class 10. To check the class rating of a card, try to find a number inside of a C on the front label.

Example of UHS Rating
Example of UHS Rating

The Ultra High Speed bus (UHS) is often found in SDUC, SDXC, and SDHC memory cards. The UHS bus memory cards to have faster transfer rates.

There are 3 separate versions. They are called UHS-I, UHS-II, and UHS-III.

You can find out the rating of a memory card by examining the front of the memory card. If the SD card has UHS, a Roman numeral I, II, or III will be on the front of the memory card.

  • UHS-I - Maximum transfer rate of 104 MB/s
  • UHS-II - Maximum transfer rate of 312 MB/s
  • UHS-III - Maximum transfer rate of 624 MB/s

Taking the information into consideration, the 64GB SanDisk Extreme Pro is the best memory card for the Fujifilm X100T. Any future camera you own, you will know what card to get.
